Objectives | The City of Grass Valley (Discharger) provides sewerage service for the City of Grass Valley and serves a population of approximately 12,100. In addition, the Grass Valley WWTP has been treating water that has been surfacing from an abandoned mine portal located on City property. The WWTP design average
dry weather flow capacity is 2.78 mgd. The treatment system at this facility consists of bar screening; primary sedimentation; alkalinity adjustment; biological treatment by activated sludge, including nitrification and denitrification; secondary sedimentation; filtration; disinfection; and dechlorination. The outfall is equipped with a stream-side rock pile diffuser. Sludge is treated by an anaerobic digester
and dewatered using a belt filter press. Treated municipal and industrial wastewater is discharged to Wolf Creek. Currently under Cease and Desist Order No. R5-2007-0163. |
