| Objectives | The Discharger owns and operates a wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal system, and provides sewerage service to the Lake Wildwood and Wildwood Estates Subdivisions. Treated municipal wastewater is discharged to Deer Creek, a water of the United States and tributary to the Yuba River. The treatment system consists of a headworks, an activated sludge process utilizing two oxidation ditches, two circular secondary clarifiers, three tri-media tertiary pressure filters, and chlorination and dechlorination facilities for disinfection. Ancillary treatment processes include return/waste activated sludge pumping and chemical feed systems. SOlids handling consists a gravity thickener and sludge storage unit, a sludge storage pond, sludge drying beds and sludge transfer area. Sludge is dewatered and disposed off-site at a permitted sludge disposal facility. The Discharger will be constructing a new centrifuge to dewater sludge. This will eliminate the use of the sludge storage pond and sludge drying beds. This project is to be completed by 31 December 2002. The existing sludge storage pond will be lined and used for emergency storage in the event of a plant upste. Additional improvements include the construction of an influent equalization basin, which is to be constructed in summer/fall of 2003. Administrative Civil Liability Complaint No. R5-2008-0532. |
