Objectives | The Facility provides heating and cooling to downtown State office buildings and, as a result, discharge non-contact cooling water from a spray header into the Sacramento River. The sources of cooling water from a spray header into the Sacramento River. The sources of cooling water to the Facility are obtained from a Ranney Collector beneather the Sacramento River, Front Street Well, P Street Well, and, on an emergency basis, from the City of Sacramento municipal water distribution system. No chemicals are added to the suplly water, which is used in a a once-through system to re-condense refrigerant and carry away unwanted heat. There is no treatment of the cooling water at the Facility prior to discharge. Wastewater is discharged from Discharge Point No. 001 to the Sacramento River, a water of the United States, within the Lower Sacramento Watershed. |
